Australia has just made a decision that should concern anyone who cares about climate, resilience, agriculture, infrastructure, insurance, energy, or economic planning.
The CSIRO is cutting climate science positions, including roles associated with ACCESS, Australia's national climate modelling capability. Depending on which figures are used, around a third of the core climate modelling team may be affected. Scientists have warned that the cuts could undermine Australia's ability to contribute to future global climate assessments and weaken our sovereign climate modelling capability.
