Global Carbon Management Society Launches to Advance Practical Climate Solutions
Melbourne, Australia – November 14, 2025
A group of international climate, policy, and industry leaders today announced the incorporation of the Carbon Management Society (CMS), a global not-for-profit organisation dedicated to advancing practical, science-based carbon management as a cornerstone of the world’s response to the climate crisis.
CMS brings together experts, policymakers, researchers, and innovators from across continents to accelerate effective solutions that reduce, remove, or avoid greenhouse gas emissions. Built on four foundational pillars Education, Advocacy, Engagement and Impact, the Society aims to bridge the gap between climate ambition and real-world implementation.
“The Carbon Management Society exists to bring coherence and credibility to the global effort on emissions reduction,” said Dr Dorel Iosif, Co-Founder and Chairman of CMS. “Our mission is simple but urgent: to turn science into action, policy into progress, and ambition into measurable impact. Too many governments and corporations acknowledge the science yet remain paralysed by complacency or political convenience. The Society will not shy away from taking clear, science-based policy positions to ensure that the world’s carbon management efforts are guided by scientific evidence, not expedience. The time for fragmented efforts is over; carbon management must now move from discussion to delivery.”
Unlike many regional initiatives, CMS operates as a truly global platform, headquartered in Australia but with founding directors representing every major region including the Middle East, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The Society will focus on uniting diverse technologies and practices under a single umbrella, spanning direct air capture, natural sinks, mineralisation, biomass carbon removal and storage, carbon capture and storage, methane reduction and energy optimisation.
The organisation will also provide independent policy advocacy, capacity building, and targeted funding support for strategic projects and early-stage innovations aligned with its mission of emissions elimination.
